Riding helmet
There is always the likelihood of falling from a horse while riding or training in equestrian sport. The rider must wear a buttoned protective helmet all the time while he is on a horse: both in training and in competition, to avoid dangerous head injuries. All our helmets provide the necessary level of safety and meet the requirements of the European standard. Even if you are an experienced rider or ride calm horses, you are obliged to wear a helmet – one day he can save your life!
How to choose a helmet for riding?
Certified riding helmets are made according to a general principle – this is a rigid outer shell with a small visor, made of various materials and having a diverse design, inside which there is a protective layer of polystyrene. It is this layer that effectively absorbs the blows and protects the rider’s head from injury. Modern helmets have a safe three-point or four-point mount, and a thin inner lining that can be unfastened and washed.
The size of the helmet should correspond to the circumference of the head, which is measured by a tape around the rim, in the broadest part, through the back of the head and the forehead. Different models of helmets may have a slightly different internal shape. So the helmet must sit comfortably — tightly, but never squeezing your head anywhere or causing discomfort. The visor should be a few centimeters above the eyebrows, at a slight angle, without obstructing the view. Mounts are adjustable in length to securely fix the helmet.
Adjustable helmets
Adjustable models of helmets can be adjusted in size with a particular wheel or elastic band. This is a significant advantage for young riders because a child can wear such a helmet without replacement for several years. Adjustable helmets are lightweight, ventilated and suitable for horse riding or entry-level riders, thanks to the price-quality ratio. However, this type of helmet is less durable and reliable than single-size helmets.
Single-size helmets
These helmets are one-piece construction and the same size. One-dimensional helmets come in a variety of designs and materials, with or without ventilation, but they are all very durable and recommended for use in competitions.
Helmet storage and replacement
A helmet for riding and also other protection must be replaced after each fall or impact! Polystyrene at the site of damage is deformed, extinguishing the shock wave, so when re-hitting it, it no longer fulfills its protective function (even while maintaining external integrity).
For the same reason, helmets cannot be stored near heat sources
Children’s helmets are replaced as the child grows so that the size of the helmet should match the circumference and provides comfort and safety. For protection from scratches and dust, helmets are conveniently stored and transported in individual bags. Please note that riding in helmets designed for other sports is not allowed! Therefore, in this section, you will find a helmet for motorcyclists and cyclists of various sizes, and also different protection.
